Super Eagles to play friendly match against England in June

The secretary general of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Mohammed Sanusi has confirmed that the Super Eagles will play England in a friendly match ahead of the World Cup.

"Yes we plan to play a friendly game against England in June before the World Cup" Sanusi said.

The venue and other details will be finalized and made official soon to the public Sanusi further added.

Nigeria first met England in 1994 in an International friendly played in Wembley, with David Platt scoring the only goal of the game in the 41st minute as the Three Lions triumphed over the Super Eagles led by the late Shuaibu Amodu of blessed memory.

Both teams met again eight years later in the 2002 World Cup, but this time the game ended in a barren draw with goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama pulling a World Class save to deny Paul Scholes a moment of Glory.

Sanusi also added that the Super Eagles will play one more friendly match in Abuja.
